The King is dead, long live the King!

IE6 dead
( Illo from one of my all time fav illustrator, John Martz ; click on image for larger view)
Oh yeah! Fellow web designer, today is THA DAY! We have been waiting, hoping that this day would come. The end to our teary late nights, our banging heads on the keyboards, our swearing to our monitors, saying «Damn you, IE6! How I hate thou!»

Fellow Folks, Internet Explorer 6 is now NO LONGER supported by Google since Monday, and Youtube cuts off support on March 13. Though Microsoft don’t intend to stop supporting his dated browser, the whole web community, programmers and designers are uniting to stop the CSS madness. The IE6 end of life has been called by diverse web peeps all over the web-world. And now, yours truly is jumping the banned-wagon (tehee), I no longer offer support or web development for IE6. There.

What can YOU do?

If you have Internet Explorer 6 as a browser, upgrade to the latest version (you’ll see, your web experience will be EXTREMELY better), or better yet, switch to FIREFOX or CHROME (which are free, yes, FREE, I tell you!) FYI, Internet Explorer 6 holds now less than 10% of the web market.

Also, you can follow the IE6 Funeral on Twitter (a tong to cheek event hosted by Aten Design Group in Denver, Colorado), or sign the online petition.

Please spread the news. Oh gosh, are these tears of joy?

My top 8 food blogs!

We French folks are passionate about food. We often describe what will be our next meal WHILE eating one. So I give you my drooling-on-the-keyboard list of food blogs (which are NOT necessarily only about food):

8- Joyfulabode
Yummy down to earth everyday comfort food.

7- The Cupcake Blog
Even thought it’s now closed, it still has the BEST cupcake recipes ever.

6- A apple mint
Well, this blog is FABULOUS! Not only does the author write insightful post, but her camera shots are flawless! Presentation is key!

5- Vegan yum yum
If you’re more the vegan-type, this blog has o-so-tasty non-meat product chef d’oeuvres!

4- Cake Spy
Sweets, cutesies, lovelies AND comics! Perfect world I say!

A crafty web designer obsessed by food… kinda reminds me of someone! Oh, and this blog isn’t just about sandwiches ^_^

2- Evil Chef mom
Funny, yummy, good blog!

1- Bread and honey
Two rockin’ mums showing us their sweet side ^_^ I dig their tattoos!

Because good food is always better with good compagny, a special mention to Lisa from U-handblog (a handbag blog, mostly) for her recent post of a typical Chinese family dinner. You guys seems to have a blast!

I’m hungry for more… got any food blogs to share?

Happy B-day to me

dejeuner

Well, yesterday was my birthday. Yup, 29. This is my last days in my twenties. Actually, I’m approaching my thirties with quite a zen attitude. There’s just a lot of my life wich is exciting right now. I’m more confident (phew, you should have seen me at 20!) in myself. There are things wich I know more about, and other wich I’m less certain, which is a good thing.

This reminds me, I thinks I’ll start a new subject here, «lines of wisdom from an almost thirty gal» (got to work that title though!).

That said, the first line of wisdom given to me for my upcomming thirties came from my chéri; he said that the big 3-0 are just a marketing scam to sell us more anti-aging lotions. isn’t he cute?

What were we thinking?

awww! almost nice!

It started out with big flurries and ended with a white blindness. What? The March 8th 2008 snowstorm. What were we thinking when we decided to go anyway to our friend’s Jacynthe birthday party (love ya sweety!)?

So yeah, here are some pics for you to see our non-seeing trip. I’m not kidding, we couldn’t see at 5 feet from us.

if a deer crosses the road, he's suicidle! that babe must be cold!

And our wipers stopped functioning at half way.

see? no? exactly!

And, well, we were driving at a whopping 30 km/h, that’s 19 mph folks!

a whopping 30 km/h

We arrived safe and sound to our destination and the next day, there were a lot of shovelling, cursing and help our neighbor/family. We are exhausted from our weekend! Note to self: don’t EVER go out in a snowstorm again. NEVER!

————-

Ok, now for the English part :) ! So I was saying that I’m not very in the whole resolution thing. First, I relate resolution with problem (ie, problem resolution, resolving a problem) and second, well, I tend not keep them very long. Really, isn’t it the WORST POSSIBLE TIME to take resolution? We’re tired from the Holidays, guilty as hell for taking TREE SLICES of the maple syrup pie and let’s not talk about the debt and lack of money! So we’re sinking in guilt which in my opinion is not the best mood to be in when taking some decisions.

Also, do we REALLY know what best for us? Sure, I want to loose 30 pounds, but if, say, I get pregnant, you can see the irony of taking that resolution yes?

So I don’t take resolution, I’d rather plan some projects. Yeah, I know, I’m playing with words here, but think about it: would you rather «repair» your life with resolution or create new opportunities for you with projects?

Hence I give you my list «in progress» of 2008 projects:

1- Meditate, clear my mind when I need to.

2- Learn and play, just for fun. I think I want to start to learn a new language this year. Was thinking Italian.

3- Find my favorite cupcake recipe.

4- Take the big leap and market my art in shows, galleries & agencies.

5- Grasp bliss whenever I have the chance.

6- Visit new places physically and spiritually.

Voilà! I wish you all what you need in 2008, even though you might not know yet what that is. Peace, joy and creativity.

Changements

Mouais, il vient un temps où, bien, on se tanne du look général de notre blog. Couleurs? Bannière? Motifs du fond? Bof. Le turquoise fait très 2006 :) Vous n’auriez pas des suggestions?

————

Yeah. It comes a time when we just had enough of the general look of one’s blog! Colors? Banner? Background? Blah! This turquoise is SO 2006 :) Anybody have some suggestions?
