Updates blurb!

I’m certainly NOT the type to make excuses. That said, my work load has been, well quite loaded since last time I post, which is, yikes, in April!

So a few updates:

We bought our land in the Laurentides, and if everything goes smoothly, we are planning to start building our house this summer. We are excited, stressed and kinda in a spaced out mood. Which on second tough might be the work load, who knows!?

So yeah, lot’s of cool clients, little time for myself (AKA this blog!), but hey, gotta live right? And unfortunately social media is munching-up time I don’t have, so Twitter-Facebook-Blog, sorry for the ditch, I’ll be back eventually.

Also, we are in prep for new services, new look, new peeps in the virtual studio, bref, we haz been beezy!

Also -also: my son’s been growing up, as baby do unfortunately, and I’ve been trying to keep up, as mom do the best they can! He is on the verge of walking without any help, also called the wall, and he is extra fast on fours (I’m sure he is faster than a cheetah!), so I’ve been trying to type this for weeks, only to be swept away by the little one doing dangerous stuff where I can’t see him! Boys!

So that’s pretty much what been going on. Oh, and I’m def. motivated to loose the extra pounds I can’t seem to shed away. I’ve bought Jillian Michaels dvd and her book too, also another book which seem quite promising. I’ve got a training bud. I’m thinking of maybe joining a support group somewhere (or create my own, wait, right, no-time, so screw that!). I’ve got a HS reunion at the end of the summer which I’m not quite sure to got yet, but maybe a new bod would help my motivation. We’ll see!

Ok, my son’s doing a weird sound with something, gotta fly!

The King is dead, long live the King!

IE6 dead
( Illo from one of my all time fav illustrator, John Martz ; click on image for larger view)
Oh yeah! Fellow web designer, today is THA DAY! We have been waiting, hoping that this day would come. The end to our teary late nights, our banging heads on the keyboards, our swearing to our monitors, saying «Damn you, IE6! How I hate thou!»

Fellow Folks, Internet Explorer 6 is now NO LONGER supported by Google since Monday, and Youtube cuts off support on March 13. Though Microsoft don’t intend to stop supporting his dated browser, the whole web community, programmers and designers are uniting to stop the CSS madness. The IE6 end of life has been called by diverse web peeps all over the web-world. And now, yours truly is jumping the banned-wagon (tehee), I no longer offer support or web development for IE6. There.

What can YOU do?

If you have Internet Explorer 6 as a browser, upgrade to the latest version (you’ll see, your web experience will be EXTREMELY better), or better yet, switch to FIREFOX or CHROME (which are free, yes, FREE, I tell you!) FYI, Internet Explorer 6 holds now less than 10% of the web market.

Also, you can follow the IE6 Funeral on Twitter (a tong to cheek event hosted by Aten Design Group in Denver, Colorado), or sign the online petition.

Please spread the news. Oh gosh, are these tears of joy?

A joyful something

I have been out of myself lately, the GORGEOUS weather here in Montreal was partly affecting my desire to just go outside and run like there was no tomorrow. But for you who have kids, you KNOW how it is, no more of this and that and out the door in an instant!

So today I was lurking in front of my fateful MAC, the sunny weather nagging me in my back (I have a window behind me) and just said, sorry buddy, I’m hitting the stroller-road today! Something I haven’t done yet this winter because, well, stroller + snowy sidewalks = walking nightmare! But snow has officially left the majority of the city, well the walking part anyway, so I welcome back the daily trots with a giddy feeling in my legs.

I dressed my son ( oh how I HATE putting on his snow suit, not as much as he hates it, I’m sure, but he just cannot move in it! You know, like the Maggie Simpson suit, only his pacifier is moving, as if all his energy was directed to the only thing he can move. ), I dressed myself, packed a couple of «in case» stuff and installed Mathias in his gear.

While our trip was certainly NOT the adventurous type, nor the particularly long one, we took the time to enjoy the sun. Mid way we encountered a lady with her baby also in a stroller and without saying anything, we just smiled at each other; Words were not necessary, we understood each other perfectly.

Today, we accomplished a simple but also difficult task for working at home moms: we both got out of our house. That was a joyful something.

Baby Montage

Got this Idea from Nicole of Making it lovely. Yes, I took yet again my son in picture, though this was a xmas present for the grand-parents, got them printed on a 12 in x 12 in mat paper and framed. I’m in love with the back and white (there is a sligh warm effect on it). Is’nt he cute as a button?

Sling-heaven

I love this pic! The baby is snuggly wrapped in his new sling from Snuggle Bug SLings on Etsy while there is clutter-work chaos behind him :) I can’t praise enough the sling, I now have hand-freedom!

Preggo-pics :: Sara Lagacé

Maybe you heard of Sara Lagacé trough her Etsy site, she has a nice & chic jewelery line. Sara is also a photographer, and a very talented one at that (if you check out her etsy shop, you’ll notice her amazing products shots).

Anyway, it so happens I met Sara trough a friend (Pam!), she lives in Montreal and I asked her to do my pregnant pictures with cheri. They are amazing, and I highly recommend Sara, it was a pleasure working with her, we had a blast!

watcha doing?

Cheri will return to work tomorrow, my has it been 5 weeks already?

So what AM I doing these days? Well, for starts, I am trying to get the mom schedule lined up. Seems having a baby comes with a load of laundry each day, which is new for us. Mathias is more of a fashion icon than myself, he changes a gazillion times a day. Not to mention the diapers, and really, we are thrilled with our cotton diapers, but it’s also an extra load of laundry which we can’t mix with our regular clothes (ew!). Speaking of, Am I the only one who keeps fretting about my kid’s poop?

Also new, me having to change b/c Mathias is practicing his aim between my boobs to puke. He’s quite good actually! So bibs are the new fashion thing around here. Also I’m trying to have the Nineties bra-only-top make a comeback. Cuz, you know, why bother putting a shirt on if it’s going to be vomited on anyways? AND I’m too sexy for this shirt :P

So yeah, what am I doing these days? Probably something evolving the bodily fluids of my son. Hopefully this will end BEFORE his teenage years. EW!

Bienvenue Mathias

I’ve been redoing this post over and over again to keep you updated on my pregnancy… well, too late now! Introducing Mathias, my son :)

He was born on May the 7th at 6:17 PM, two weeks early though I’m sure he would have stayed longer snuggly in my wombs!

He weighted 9 pounds 6 ounces, measured 22 3/4 in (the nurse measured him 3 times cuz she thought she misread the size!).

He was delivered by C-section after 36 hours of induced labor. It’s funny how saying this now seems like a breeze. My mind has almost forgotten all that I have been trough, thank god! Chéri keeps saying to me the same thing and also wishes his mind could forget…!

After 4 days at the hospital, we were back home and could finally sleep and relax. Mathias had hypo-glycemy and a jaundisse while we were there, plus I had to get well enough to walk (yay for pain medicine!). But we are all well now and regaining our health back, including chéri who lost a whopping 10 pounds in 5 days with the stress! I joke with him that he didn’t suffer from a sympathetic pregnancy, but a sympathetic labor! :)

I won’t go into the gore details of my labor :) Anyway, as I said, I’m forgetting slowly the bad parts. But I had some funny part, like my aunt saying to me: Now don’t be granola and take the epidural when it’s unbearable (which I did, after 16 hours. I just wanted to sleep. And I’m not granola, FYI. ;) ). Also, we went to the hospital because I though my water broke (wich they did); when the doctor examined me to check if indeed my water had broken, they really-really did brake then, my sister (who assisted at that scene) said to me that it was like a river had gushed out (ok, that’s a bit gore, but funny!)! A river preceded my son :)

So now it’s the becoming a mom part, which is actually the simplest thing for me. I had NEVER changed a diaper before Mathias’ nor worry so much over the sleep of someone. The first night was hell, as his sounds and silenced moments kept me awake all night. We are also leaning the joys of nursing, Mathias and myself. T’was tough at the beginning, but we’re getting the hang of it. The key I learned is to give yourself the time you need to process it all, you can’t rush anything.

So now it’s kisses on my son’s cheeks, relaxing with Chéri (he is on his paternity leave, so it’s a 5 week at home stay, which is awesome!) and just enjoying every moments I have with our family.
