I’m so exited to get this column going again, it has made me discover AMAZING artists from every art sphere, and I truly hope you enjoy it also! Please drop me a line if you want to be featured!
1. What do you create ? Please tell us about your art.
I create My Reality. My Art, it is me, something without what I cannot exist. I draw on all my free time; What I love most is to work with wonderful colored papers, archival inks and acrylic, embellishing artwork with crystals and precious metal leafing. I love to draw communication between my characters, different happenings and relationships. I put meaning in each tiny detail of the artwork, every flower or connection has its reason to be. The magic of my art is that I don’t use any sketch or pencil: everything you see is created pure, in one moment, without any change.
Sometimes, I love to play with my image digitaly; I draw with a graphic tablet, use pieces of photographs and use all the magic of Photoshop to realize my idea as best as possible!
2. How do you come up with an idea for a piece ?
It always comes unexpectedly while I live my day-to-day life: I can see shapes, sense smells, hear a sound or understand something new and, bingo! The idea is ready in my head. And then I feel the urge to pick up my ink pen and start creating immediately! If I do not get a chance to do it, a hunger for drawing is growing in me and then I am just not able to concentrate on anything else
I have to draw.
3- Do you have any creating ritual ?
I give special attention to all my drawing tools; I love to feel the paper, hold my brushes, care for paints and I make them always available to me so I feel I have all necessary tools to make my imagination a reality.
4- Do you have a studio or creative place-room-corner ? How does it impact your art ?
I do! I create in my Shangri-La! I feel amazingly comfortable and cozy, there is kind of connection between me and my space. I will draw in any place though, I have tried lots and lots of them where least comfortable, but as soon as I start drawing, everything else vanishes. My main thing is to Create.
5- Do you have any books, website, media or music that inspires you ?
Yes I have a person that inspires and always supports me, Genius Sculptor and Wonderful Personality – My Husband.
6- What are you into at the moment ?
Currently I am going through a very creative time of my live, I draw a lot and am very happy, exited and very busy with establishing my new shop on Etsy.
7- Any dreams or project for the future?
I think after all what is said above the answer is obvious
I dream to create more of my personal art, be able to dedicate to it full time, and my first step is my new shop, which is already helping me to build foundation to realize this dream!
Thanks Yuliya! I can’t get over the details and the complexity of your images (and to think you DON’T do a sketche before diving in! Amazing talent!) To appreciate Yuliya’s art, please visit her Etsy shop, her blog, her Flickr account and connect with her on Facebook!
